Terms & Conditions

Terms governing your use of the Border & Boundaries website and our immigration legal services.

1. About these terms

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Border & Boundaries website (the "Website") and set out the general terms on which we provide UK immigration legal services.

By using our Website or instructing us, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our Website or services. These Terms should be read alongside our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.

2. About Border & Boundaries

Border & Boundaries is a specialist UK immigration law firm regulated by the Immigration Advice Authority (IAA), formerly OISC, Registration No. F202100358. We are also members of the Immigration Law Practitioners' Association (ILPA).

Our services are provided subject to our professional obligations and the IAA Code of Standards. We are not part of the Home Office or UK Visas and Immigration.

3. Use of this website

The content on this Website is provided for general information only. It does not constitute legal advice and should not be relied upon as a substitute for advice tailored to your specific circumstances.

You may use our Website for lawful purposes only. You must not:

  • Use the Website in any way that breaches applicable laws or regulations
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems or data
  • Transmit viruses, malware, or other harmful code
  • Copy, reproduce, or redistribute our content without permission
  • Use automated tools to scrape or harvest data from the Website

We reserve the right to restrict access to the Website at any time.

4. No legal advice on the website

Information on this Website, including guides, blog posts, and FAQs, is provided for general awareness only. Immigration law is complex and changes frequently. Your circumstances may mean that general information does not apply to you.

A solicitor-client relationship is only created when we have agreed to act for you in writing and you have accepted our terms of engagement and fee quote. Until that point, any communication does not constitute legal advice.

5. Consultations and enquiries

We offer free initial consultations of up to 30 minutes for new clients. A consultation is an opportunity to assess your matter and discuss options, it does not oblige you to instruct us, and we are not obliged to accept your instruction.

Information you provide during an enquiry or consultation will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Please do not submit false or misleading information.

6. Fees and payment

Our fees are quoted on a fixed-fee basis unless otherwise agreed in writing. A written fee quote will be provided before any chargeable work begins. Our fees cover our professional services only and do not include Home Office application fees, tribunal fees, disbursements, or third-party costs unless stated.

Payment terms will be set out in your client care letter. We may suspend work if fees are not paid in accordance with agreed terms.

7. Client care and complaints

When you instruct us, you will receive a client care letter setting out the scope of work, your adviser, fees, and our complaints procedure.

If you are unhappy with our service, please contact us in the first instance. If we cannot resolve your complaint, you may refer the matter to the Immigration Advice Authority. Details of the IAA complaints process are available at www.gov.uk/find-an-immigration-adviser.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Border & Boundaries shall not be liable for any loss arising from your use of the Website or reliance on its general content.

Our liability for professional services is limited as set out in your client care letter and in accordance with our professional indemnity insurance and regulatory requirements. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded by law.

9. Intellectual property

All content on this Website, including text, graphics, logos, and images, is owned by or licensed to Border & Boundaries and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.

You may view and print pages for personal, non-commercial use. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works without our prior written consent.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any disputes arising from your use of the Website, subject to your rights as a consumer if applicable.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Website after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

Last updated: July 2025. This document is provided for general information only and does not constitute legal advice. If you have questions about how this policy applies to you, please contact us.
