EEA Nationals & EU Settlement: Protecting Your Right to Stay in the UK
Expert advice on EU Settlement Scheme applications, settled and pre-settled status, and EEA family permits for EU citizens and their family members living in the UK.
What Is the EU Settlement Scheme?
The EU Settlement Scheme was established to protect the rights of EU, EEA, and Swiss citizens, and their family members, who were living in the UK before the end of the Brexit transition period. Successful applicants receive either settled status (indefinite leave to remain) or pre-settled status (five years' limited leave).
Although the main deadline has passed, late applications may still be possible in certain circumstances. Family members joining EU citizens in the UK may also need to apply. Our lawyers help you secure and maintain your status, upgrade from pre-settled to settled status, and resolve complex cases.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I still apply to the EU Settlement Scheme?
The main deadline was 30 June 2021, but late applications may be accepted if you have reasonable grounds for missing the deadline, for example, serious illness or compelling practical circumstances. We assess whether you qualify for a late application.
What is the difference between settled and pre-settled status?
Settled status is indefinite leave to remain, you can stay in the UK permanently. Pre-settled status is granted for five years and you must apply to upgrade to settled status once you have completed five years of continuous residence in the UK.
Can my non-EU family members apply?
Yes. Non-EEA family members of EU citizens may be eligible for the EU Settlement Scheme or an EEA family permit, depending on their relationship and circumstances. We advise on the correct route for each family member.
