Skilled Worker Routes: UK Work Visas for Professionals

Expert advice on Skilled Worker, Senior Specialist Worker, Health & Care Worker, and Scale-Up Worker visas for professionals with a UK job offer.

What Are Skilled Worker Routes?

Skilled worker routes are the main pathway for professionals to live and work in the UK. You need a job offer from a UK employer with a sponsor licence, and the role must meet minimum skill and salary requirements set by the Home Office.

From April 2024, salary thresholds increased significantly, the general minimum is now £38,700 per year, or the going rate for your occupation, whichever is higher. Our lawyers ensure your Certificate of Sponsorship, job role, and application meet every requirement, giving you the best chance of approval first time.

FAQs, Skilled Worker Routes

What is the salary threshold for a Skilled Worker visa in 2025?

From April 2024, the general threshold is £38,700 per year, or the going rate for the occupation, whichever is higher. Lower thresholds apply for new entrants, certain shortage occupations, and the Health & Care Worker route.

My employer does not have a sponsor licence. Can I still apply?

Your employer must hold a valid sponsor licence before they can assign you a Certificate of Sponsorship. We can assist both you and your employer with the licence application simultaneously, many of our clients secure both at the same time.

Can I bring my family on a Skilled Worker visa?

Yes. Skilled Worker visa holders can bring dependants, your partner and children, to the UK. Each dependant requires their own application and must meet maintenance and relationship requirements.
